English, Chinese or Hebrew
Hello, everyone, I live in Beijing, my native language is Chinese Mandarin, I¡¯ve studied English for many years and it is enough for chat or daily use, but my Hebrew study is just beginning. So I wanner practice both English and Hebrew, of course, I can help anyone with Chinese.
I like history, politic, and different culture. I also like running and swimming. Welcome anyone to add me. I think we could be good friends during exchange, and we could learn much from each other.

you're not hearing "How are you?" when u walk into..
When you walk into the 7-X store in Taiwan, usually the cashier don¡¯t say¡°n¨« h¨£o¡±(ÄãºÃ= How are you?) but ¡°hu¨¡n y¨ªng gu¨¡ng l¨ªn¡±(šgÓ¹âÅR= Welcome! ) at the 1st. When you leave the store, they say ¡°xi¨¨ xi¨¨ gu¨¡ng l¨ªn¡±(ÖxÖx¹âÅR= Thanks for coming. ) at the last. Next time when you go to the store , you may say¡±n¨« h¨£o¡±, ¡°xi¨¨ xi¨¨ ¡±(ÖxÖx=Thanks. ) and ¡° z¨¤i ji¨¤n¡±(ÔÙÒŠ=Goodbye! ) .Enjoy!

Re:Re:china - great place
Hello - it may be hard to contact each other now, but feel free to share your thoughts here. Also, I'm thinking of putting some suggestions later on the Language Tips bulletin board, basically things that have helped me study language. Hopefully, it will be helpful to you and others that are learning a second language!
note: China is such a great, diverse place to visit, with so much beautiful scenery, and yes, as you said, a lot of culture and food.

Re:Re:china - great place
Thanks for asking. I went to a relatively remote area in China, where I saw ethnic minorities. Pretty interesting - some things were definitely different than the U.S., but as long as a person is open to adapting to a new environment, it is not that bad (my opinion). I hope to return, but I need to improve my Mandarin first. If you are a gold member, feel free to contact me. Best wishes on your English!
