at/in/on
At a point...
Such as at the door, at the store, or at the end of my rope.
In an enclosed space...
Such as in my pocket, in a car, and in the ocean.
On a surface...
Such as on the floor, on a page, or on the menu.
If I found a lake or waterfall, I would say that I found water on the island.
If a noun is singular, we use another to modify it. If it is plural, we use other.
I will visit another place. (singular)
I visited other places. (plural)

in or on or at that island would depend on the question being asked. Each of them could be used.
"Another place" is good and "other places", so it appears they indicate singular and plural

Prepositions - on/at/in and other/another
I need some help with prepositions in/on/at. I couldn't find an explanation.
Which one is correct?
Ex: I found water in/on/at that island?
What is the difference between other/another?
Ex: I visited another/other places.
