Re:How to pronounce
I don't know if this will help for sure, but if you break it down, "appropriate" should sound like this:

"uh-pro-pree-it"

Hope that helps. =)

Re:How to pronounce
Saeed,

Please note that the pronunciation of the final syllable changes depending on the meaning of the word.

As an adjective, as Brody mentioned, it is uh-proh-pree-it.

As a verb, it is uh-proh-pree-eyt.

The stress is on the second syllable 'proh' for both words.

Re:Re:How to pronounce
Hi Saeed,

Perhaps I can just expand on what Eric said.

The word "appropriate" can have three meanings but the two you are most likely to use are:

Appropriate (adjective) a'prau.pri.et this means:- suitable or right for a particular situation or occasion. The opposite being "inappropriate"

Appropriate (verb) a'prau.pri.ait This means to take something for your own use, usually without permission. It does not have an opposite.

The difference in meaning is given by the context and pronounciation.

Hope that helps!
