I am a professor of Chinese language now living in Central Ohio. I taught at the Far Eastern State University in Khabarovsk, Russia as a Senior Language Instructor, Department of Chinese language. Khabarovsk is a city sitting about 25 miles from China. I thus have also worked and travelled extensively in China and understand much about Chinese culture. I have taught students for 16 years both at this university and also I have taught many private students ages 17 (last two years of secondary education) through college age. I am currently offering private tutoring to interested students including basic phonetics, technical writing, grammar and spoken language. I have a curriculum including weekly instruction and assignments that build the basic components to learn Chinese for beginners. I provide for students all necessary materials at no additional cost. What makes a foreign language fun and easy? If each and every rule and grammar is explained step by step, the task becomes easier for the student. I try to make the lesson plans full of relevant information, but I also try not to overwhelm the student with too much information. For instance, if there are multiple irregular verbs for the student to memorize, I try to teach a few verbs at a time with a fun task instead of giving the student all the irregular verbs at one time.
What makes my lessons unique compared others is that they are catered to the student's needs. In addition, the lesson plans are tailored to be simple but with relevant information. For instance, one of the tasks I created was a multiple choice quiz. Often students are told to complete multiple choice quizzes but are not told to give reasons why they chose a specific answer.
