Teaching approach: |
let's face it not many language teachers have a combination of real business experience in both China and the UK and a International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate. This experience and credential allow me not only to teach a language but also to teach the language within a historical, cultural and business context. There are no generic formulas or set recipes to follow, but innovative methods, tailored to individual learners, which engage learners by incorporating storytelling, business case studies, songs and games into my learning materials.
Unlike the traditional approach, focusing only on listening and speaking, shying away from reading and writing characters, my holistic system of teaching Mandarin is a carefully designed balance of all these aspects. The sooner you are exposed to the Chinese characters, the easier it is when the time comes to reading and writing, as you will have gradually become familiar with the characters from the outset and had time to assimilate th... |

First of all, you can choose whether to learn Chinese through English in which way many people feel comfortable, or learn through pure Chinese (sounds challending but really safe and fun)
Secon dly, a large amount of real, funny, useful learning materials are gathered, recreated or designed, to make the "contexts" more "real". Even if you are not able to take advantage of the communities in Beijing, you won't miss the chances of learning how to communicate in Chinese.
I know different people have different learning styles, we can have a chat first then we choose the right thing for you. |

Teaching approach: |
You'll find me a helpful, understanding and friendly tutor. After your level has been determined and the areas you need improvement in identified, we'll go through A-Z of that language making sure every aspect of it, from structure to fluency, has been understood properly. My teaching aim is to turn intangible learning effort into tangible results -- not only will the students acquire a language, but will also enjoy the process of learning, and will get the most from what they have learned. My training programs have therefore adopted the active learning approach, which help students to achieve more than just knowing the language. I' m quite enthusiastic and patient to every student. And My teaching is practical for different levels. I always believe, where there is a will there is a way. |

Besides using the text books, I will encourage students to learn Chinese in a dynamic atmosphere, such as watching, analyzing, and dubbing for film clips, singing Chinese songs, learning latest Chinese news etc. If you want to learn 'academic' Chinese writing in Arts field such as academic papers for media, culture, literature, I can also help by proofreading! |
