Description |
Dear prospective teacher(s), I am interested in receiving private tutoring lessons in Arabic (modern standard). Although I have lived in the Middle East for a couple of years, my arabic is mostly colloquial, and as I am a graduate student, having a mastery of the Arabic language is a requirement for my degree. I am using Georgetown University Press's Al-Kitaab series.
I would like a teacher who can truly explain the language, as understanding grammatical concepts and structures is extremely important to me. A native speaker is essential.

I am trying to get into school, improve my fluency with foreign languages, dissolve language barriers between people in my community, and also between myself, career advancement in a way, but mostly to be able to connect with more people and learn of their cultures. I want to become a part of many cultures and bring them together. I have an almost indescribable passion for language and culture which I want to take advantage of and teach others of peaceful means of co-existence.
I am a beginner of Arabic and currently teaching myself via various online venues.
I am in need of communication practice and basic grammar structure. I can write with Arabic but I cannot read it very well.
I wish to dedicate as much time to learning as life permits but altruisticall y may be approximately 3 to 5 hours a week at most.
I am happy with any lessons or teacher with whom I may work however I do not need much from a teacher, just a little guidance in coursework and/or work which is given to me. Teaching myself is hard, I tackle too much and easily overwhelm myself. I have an understanding of the case system, and appears very easy. I understand the rules of gender as well as expressions with possessive and prepositional phrases. I have a very good idea of the verb system but much of it can be confusing (such as how and when to use the most appropriate of the forms of verbs for various expressions.) Also, Although I am very confident in my skills of pronunciation I would like for someone to work with me to perfect them.

Description |
Hello,
My name is Kate, and I am an American/Brit ish expat who just moved to Paris. I speak English (mother tongue) and French, and last year I started learning Arabic. I want to learn Arabic as I have several close friends who speak it, I love the language, and one day I hope to live in the middle east. I am still a beginner, although I have mastered the alphabet and my handwriting is quiet good. I have worked through part of the textbook 'Kullo Tamam' and all of the textbook 'Alif Baa'. Currently, I am trying to complete the textbook that follows 'Alif Baa' called 'Al-kitaab fii ta'allum al-'arabiyya' . I feel like I need to start learning basic grammar in order to speak, along with an expanded vocabulary. I can spend 2-4 hours a week in lessons, and am willing to study a lot on my own. I am on a tight budget, so while I would like to do more in paid lessons a week, I need to just start out with 2-4 hours a week and see how it goes. I am looking for a teacher that is a native speaker of Mosr, Shaami, and/or gulf Arabic. I would also like a teacher who is flexible, patient, and good at explaining things. I am very motivated to learn and looking for a teacher that can work hard like me!
