I found that the only way to master a foreign language is to live in that foreign culture for a long time - and I don't mean merely live, but actively participate in all aspects of life. You have to be involved in ordinary and extraordinary life. If you limit your social network to your own peers, then your language development will go only so far. If you want to learn Korean, but cannot afford to live in Korea, try watching Korean drama and movies. Dramas, in particular, depict daily lives somewhat accurately (minus realization of romantic and economic fantasies). The next best thing is this: read & write, read & write, read & write...
