Re:Can anyone translate my sons name into Sanskrit for me?
Dear Clinton, Daniel being a name with no connections with Hindu / Saskrit texts, you may not be able to get an exact translation. In Sanskrit the name would be used as it is, may be the "D" is pronounced like "Th", if at all.
If you are keen on a Sanskrit equivalent, however, the name can be re-interpreted. "Dan" sounds almost like "Daan" which means alms. If you add Ishwarah to it, the name becomes Daaneshwar (the first letter to be pronounced as "th" in "that" or "the" rather than as "d" in "dull").
Daaneswar would mean one who is wealthy and prosperous and loves to give to others.
Regards, Dogra.
