Hi Holger,
This is one of our more colorful expressions, and it's just supposed to be colorful. It's supposed to be more clever than just saying the part you left out all by itself, but of course, now that it is so well-known, it's not so clever anymore.
Anyway, it really doesn't have a lot of meaning. It simply means that I have so much contempt for you that I extend my contempt to your horse also. Of course, nobody rides horses anymore as transportation in our country, so, it's really just a very silly expression.

Rolling bones
Hi Deborah,
I am also a big fan of Rush from way back, though I don't think I ever heard this album.
"Roll the bones" means, "roll the dice", because dice have often been made of ivory or bone, and called "bones" for that reason. If you're up on your history, you may recall that the Emperor-to-be Julius Caesar would have decided to "roll the bones" shortly before he crossed the Rubicon and observed, "Okay, I rolled the bones", or, more familiarly, "the die is cast" (okay, so maybe he just rolled one of them).
