Re:How Are You?
>>How do u say, "How are you?" in Russian? We say "ºÐÚ ÔÕÛÐ?". In translit it may be written as "Kak dela?". You can find this expression and some other in "Word games" partition of this site.

Re:greetings british people!
I write this as a fellow yank(American) who has made several trips across the pond (Atlantic Ocean) over the past year. If you are a true language lover, you're going to absolutely *LOVE* the UK. A PhD candidate could do an entire thesis on the differences between our dialects. (The same could be said for the regional dialects in England) Here's a small list to help get you going. It would be great if others could add on:
English American Chips French Fries Crisps Potato Chips Jacket Potato Baked Potato Lift Elevator Lorry Truck Spanner Wrench Boot Trunk Gammon steak Ham steak
Another good thing to know is English term for their currency. In currency in the UK is still the British Pound since the country chose not to convert to the Euro. You'll often hear the local refer to their money as "quid". It's similar to an American saying that costs "10 bucks" instead of dollars. You might also hear people refer to a 5 or 10 pound note as a "fiver" on a "tenner".
Also, don't believe that stereotype about British food not being up to international standards. I highly recommend you try the pub food in London. The prices are mostly reasonable and the cuisine is well worth it. (Also, have a Boddington beer for me. It's out of this world!)
Also, for language lovers... Make sure to visit the British Museum in London and see the Rosetta Stone. I spent two hours studying the replica, trying to remember my incredibly poor Koine and marvelling over the hieroglyphs. I can't wait to go back...
Good luck.

greetings british people!
Hey everyone. I'm an American traveling to England and France this summer. Anybody know some British slang? Or, can anyone tell me British words that are different from U.S. ones? Do you really call the bathroom the loo or toilet? And when people eat fish and chips, how exactly does that work? Random fish pieces and potato chips? -Alexandra
