I have studied a little Deutsch on my own, but mostly for "fun". I am originally from NJ too, Ocean County! That was many years ago, I live in CA now.
I have horses too, my wife (mein Frau) and I keep Norwegian Fjords. A few years ago i went to Germany for the first time and rode at a Reitschule.
I really don't know anything about sign language, but good luck!

Hello Emily. I don't know much about sign language., but i am German, so i could help you with that. You should not trust the auto translation. Sounded horribly in German. I would translate your English text to German like that:
Hallo
Mein Name ist Emily. Ich liebe Pferde. Ich lebe in New Jersey ( we do not translate names of us american citys). Ich Ÿbe/lerne englische Zeichensprache. Au§erdem lerne ich Deutsch. ...and so on..
If you want I am willing to help you with German. Maybe you can help me with English in exchange ;)
