In the US (or at the very least, where I'm from in the US), We had a number of choices of extracurricular activities. At my school in the fall, I could have either played soccer, football, or ran cross country. In the winter, we could either be on the swim team, play basketball, or wrestle. And in the spring, we could run track, play tennis, or golf. There are probably other activities I'm forgetting. You also had the opportunity to be part of a number of different clubs and counsels as well.
