I know nothing about Japanese; therefore, that makes me a major beginner! However, I really really want/desire to learn Japanese. I dream of eventually pursuing a Masters in Foreign Security which requires a proficiency in a foreign language. I really really want Japanese to be my foreign language of proficiency. I am a young adult who works full time, so I would prefer being tutored on weekends. I would like to have a structured learning experience. In other words, I expect my tutor to require me to buy a textbook and/or learning materials. I am very motivated/ent husiastic about learning. I want to be able to speak, read, and write the language. I don't really know how much language tutors charge these days... I would like to have an hour lesson scheduled weekly... I took French in high school, but in my job Spanish is more than just an asset. I have tried learning on my own so I know a few phrases, but I really just need to become fluent in Spanish - enough to carry on moderately complex conversation and understand my clients. I recently tested at level 3 on the DLI scale in speaking, reading and understanding both Egytpian and Modern Standard Arabic. I wish to continue studying Arabic during my professional career first because of my love for the language and second for professional/ academic reasons. I intend to pursue a higher degree in Arabic or Middle Eastern Studies and I want to improve my Arabic between now and when I restart my studies, as opposed to losing my facility with the language by virtue of non-use. I would like to arrange one two- or three-hour 1-to-1 session per week, preferrably on a week night, beginning as soon as possible and lasting into the forseeable future.
I am looking for a tutor with professional teaching experience who is comfortable working one-on-one with an advanced student who wishes to explore diverse subjects with the aim of building vocabulary and fluency, as well as reading in a range of topics.
