I would like to learn Lithuanian. I am a new student and have no knowlege of the language at all. I am not neccesarily looking for a teacher with years of expeience. But am not opposed to one either. I would be happy to work with a native Lithuanian who would be willing to work with me once or twice a week for an hour or two each time we meet. This is just for personnal growth. It will not be used in my business or professional dealings at all. If you are new to this country and want to work with me I would be happy to pay you for your expertise and would be willing to donate to you some time to help you with your English or answer any questions you may have. Hello,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Joe Mulvenna, I'm from the United States. My finance is from Vilnius and we have recently decided to relocate to be closer to her family. It is going to be an uphill battle in finding a job since I don't know the Lithuanian language. This is the main reason I must learn the language. I would be a beginner in Lithuanian; however I have had a full year of classroom instruction in Russian. I would be learning the language to be closer to the members of my extended family who still live there and hopefully to visit someday. I would need instruction in all areas (grammar and conversation) but right now I would find it easier to practice the written form. Due to my rigorous school schedule at this time I can dedicate only 4 hours a week to intensive study right now, but I can commit to at least 12 + hours after the first of October 2006. I am mainly seeking to learn Lithuanian as it is spoken (especially in the southern part of the country), not so much the 'textbook' form. I seek a teacher who is laid-back and is willing to teach at my pace depending on how much time I have and how much I can handle at once. My former Russian instructor would become frustrated with me and yell, telling me I hadn't practiced the oral lessons. I did practice but I became nervous around her, and having her yell at me did not help my comfort level with the language.
