I've worked with a variety of different textbooks, but in general I like to design material to fit the student's specific needs. I study languages in addition to teaching English, so that gives me insight into the problems that students encounter and the bad habits that keep them from overcoming those problems. My approach is different from many English teachers: I don't think language can be learned by memorizing! I prefer to challenge my students to think critically about English, to analyze the language and to practice as much as possible. |

The object of these tutorials is to promote not only knowledge, but also a love of whatever subject a child may be studying. When learning a new language it can seem intimidating intially however what I do is start at the level where you are at. I, then work with a road map throughout the course for your specific needs. I feel it is important to show you where you are and where you are headed. We set the foundation and once we master it we elevate to a level of learning how to read, write and speak the language on a proficient level. It is important to have hands on experience when learning a new language because everyone learns differently. Some need to see, speak or read before they comprehend the information. I normally begin by eliciting as much information from the student about why they need to learn the language, how much experience they have had with it, what goals and objectives they have set for themselves in their language studies, etc etc etc so that i can understnad how I can best plan a teachign strategy that would suit the student's individual learning needs. |
