Learn Malayalam as a Foreign language in a professional way I am a foreigner and moved to Kerala along with my husband 6 years ago. As I studied PG in translation and interpreting, picking up another language did not seem to be a big worry for me - until I encountered Malayalam. During the first 5 years I have struggled to learn the language. I tried to learn by listening, but as the language is completely different from what I have learned until now and even the gestures, I was able to pick up some basics in such a long time. This year I have decided to seek professional help as I do not want to feel or be treated as a foreigner anymore and become self-sufficient. At the beginning I was hopeless trying to learn in a systematic way and everyone had discouraged me. Though I found this website and made an add for a Malayalam teacher. Luckily, I was contacted by Devikaji and offered classes. I decided to give it a try immediately. Devika surprised me with her dedication, patience and class preparation. After so many years of struggle, I have got the feeling finally to find my way with this language and improve.
