I've always been interested in different languages and cultures. I'd like to be able to travel overseas again with more to help me than just a beginner's foreign language dictionary and phrasebook. I'd also like to read poetry and listen to foreign music without needing an English translation. With enough practice, I know I can learn basic reading and writing, but I tend to have difficulty with speech and hearing comprehension . Self-study books and computer software could never replace a real teacher who is motivational and experienced enough to guide their students at the appropriate pace. For now, my goal is basic fluency in all areas of a language. I'd like a live tutor 1-2 hrs a day for 1 or 2 days a week with perhaps small, homework assignments in-between. The affordability of the lessons will determine how soon I could start and the quality of the lessons for how long I would stay with it. :)
