I am not knowledgeable about any facets of the Chinese language or culture. I would like to begin learning Chinese since I feel that China will soon be the world's leading economic producer. I am seeking a structured introduction to the grammar and pronunciation of Chinese; I cannot specify which dialect I am most interested in at this time. I feel that I can contribute no more than five to ten hours a week to study. I would like an instructor who understand and appreciates my desire to fathom more about Chinese customs and language.

Dear To Whom it may concern,
I am interested in learning Chinese (Mandarin) in order to understand my students better and make them feel at ease in my classroom. I teach in an elementary school in which most of my students speak only Chinese. I would like to be able to talk and write notes to parents, speak and understand my students. During the summer I am willing to dedicate everyday if needed to learning, when school begins in September I would have to say once or twice a week.

I am a 78 year old male with a Slovak heritage. I have located and visited my father's birthplace in Slovakia and want to expand my search there, but I want to have some ability to converse in Slovak. My parents spoke slovak when I was young but they did not want us to learn the language, so i am a beginner.
I am retired and have a great deal of flexibility in controlling my time.
I prefer to study with a teacher who is available within in a modest distance eg.30-40 miles.
