I did Spanish in High School and would like to be able to use it in securing another job in this challenging economy. I was laid off in June 2008, age 50 (will be 51 this year) and will be getting 'unemployment ' benefits of $212.00 a week until April 2009. I am not in the position to afford an EXPENSIVE CONVERSATIONA L SPANISH program and was wondering if you offer any 'options' for people in my situation? If not, do you have any suggestions? Being BILINGUAL IS AN ASSET in today's economy and my age. Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I would like to take Portuguese lessons at a beginning level. I've been meaning to do this for some time, since I have family in both Brazil and Portugal, and no ability to converse with them if I were to visit. Most of my Portuguese-sp eaking family also speaks English, but I think that to travel the world expecting everyone to understand English is an unrealistic, lazy mentality. I think that to know multiple languages is to possess valuable tools. I want to visit Portugal this summer, and want to have a basic grasp of the language by then. I am willing to work hard. I'd like to take lessons once or twice a week.

I am abel to carry on a conversation, for the most part, however it is never usually a long one. The main reason is because of my lack of vocabulary. I can congegate already for the most part but would still like to become more afluent. My main goal is to become fluent really I use Spanish regularly most of my friends are spanish speakers.
I guess the reaso i desire to learn is really due to the fact that I am almost there already i would just like to enhance what I already have. I also have a desire to learn other languages but i would like to do it one at a time so first I need to become fluent in Spanish.

I lived in Brazil for two years but only studies Portuguese formally for a very short time. Although rusty, I think my conversationa l skills would come back quickly but my grammar leaves a lot to be desired!
I would like to focus on conversation and grammar.
Depending on the cost, I would like to have 1-2 lessons per week and can travel between Arlington/Cam bridge/Boston.
I am looking for a teacher who is friendly and creative and can create lessons that are fun, interesting and appropriate to my abilities and learning style. I really don't want to have classes where I only do activities out of text books.
