I visit Indonesia frequently and have picked up some basic grammar and vocabulary. However, I am far from fluent and would like to learn from someone who has experience teaching either Indonesian or Malaysian. I would like to correct my pronounciatio n and understand the grammar better. I am aiming to be able to read and understand the newspaper and have intermediate level conversations with people in a casual and work environment (I import goods from Indonesia). I am looking for a teacher who could dedicate 1-3 hours a week with me. I prefer to meet in person but am also open to online lessons, video conferences, etc. The ideal teacher would be personable, patient, and have experience teaching these languages to an English speaker.

I have a strong desire to learn to speak Bahasa Malayu becauase I lived in Kuala Lumpur for 7 years, and only learned a small amount, some phrases and greetings, etc. I want to learn for more career opportunities , as eventually I would like to become an interpreter. I hope to go back to Malaysia soon and I would love to be able to speak more of the language. I would need help in all aspects, grammar, conversation, etc. Due to the fact that I am a stay at home mother, I regret that I cannot dedicate a large amount of time to learn, but I would be prepared to commit to anywhere from 3-7 hours a week. Its not much, but it is a start. In a teacher, I would hope to have someone that is patient and really knows and loves what they're teaching. Someone who has a passion for what they're doing, and tries to make it a rewarding experience for the student.

Hello, I am a graduated student of geography in the University of Montreal, city of Montreal, Canada. For my researches, I entend to participate to a project which necessite a good knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia, to accomplish an inquiry in Malaysia. During this summer 2005, in the months of May, June, July, and August I would like to take approximative ly six weeks to learn Bahasa Malaysia in Malaysia. For the moment, I know very little, almost nothig of this language, but the best thing for me would be to live in a family and to attend to Malay courses during the day.
