I am kind of a beginner at Japanese. I know the hiragana syllabary and some really simple sentences. For example: konnichiwa, watashi no namae wa jonasan desu; O-genki desu ka? i know that the particle 'no' is a possesive particle; 'Desu' is a capula; 'ka' the question marker. i also know how to conjugate verbs. i only know very few verbs. for example Koku, neru, shinu, korosu, taberu, hanasu, aru, and iru. i know some pronouns: watashi, kare, kanojo, are, sore, kore. some nouns: inu, neko, ringo, kodomo, and denwa.
i am learning Japanese because ever since i was a child, i have always been fascinated with the language. I actually wanted to learn it in high school, but the school i am attending (and will soon be graduating from in June of 2008) only offers Russian. I have recently decided that over the summer, before i enter college, that i wanted to begin the process of learning the language.
i would enjoy spending about 3.5 hours a day over the summer of 2008.
The qualities i look for in a teacher is someone who is dedicated and patient, but also strict (though not to strict)

Beginner. I am learning because I am on a spiritual journey and these two languages are going to be important to my ability to commuicate. I want to be able to speak and understand both French and Romanian well enough to interact with people from these countries. I want to work on it until I am good at it. I am looking for a teacher who can help me get it as quickly as possible but who is willing to work as long as it takes.
