I have no experience in Croatian. My husband has received a job offer there, and we are going to be relocating in the near future. I would like to learn Croatian for various reasons. After visiting friends in Zagreb, I would like to return to the country and be able to gain a certain level of fluency, but think it would be necessary to have a starting point ahead of time. Also, I plan on attaining my PhD in linguistics and think that the knowledge of a non-latin language would be helpful in this endeavor.

I am just starting out to learn the language. My family is from Hvar, one of the island in croatia and I am planning on living there for a year or so and I was hoping to learn the language or at least be able to understand and converse before I go. I am willing to dedicate quite a bit of time to learn.

I learned a little Croatian as a small child, but have forgotten most of it. I'm planning to visit Croatia this spring or summer, and would love to be at least slightly conversationa l in the language. I could devote 2-3 hrs. per week of class time, and whatever is necessary as far as study is concerned. I'm looking for a teacher who is patient, very proficient in the language, and who won't spend an inordinate amount of time on grammar, since I'm only interested in being conversationa lly fluent. I also need to find a teacher who charges a reasonable rate.
