I have currently been studying Finnish for around three years now. I have also spent about six months in total in Finland. Having only studied the language for a few years, I think all aspects of my language skills are lacking. Of course, I am able to learn vocabulary on my own but what is particularly difficult is learning the correct grammar and learning the spoken version of things to accompany the formal written version that I have learned. I have studied grammar fairly intensively but it is still quite hard.

I'm an American native speaker of English who wants to learn Finnish (and maybe other languages in the future). I plan on studying language and linguistics and possibly becoming a translator. I only know a few Finnish phrases and words, so I'm a beginner in the language. I would like to know everything about the language, and also the culture associated with Finland. Due to my work schedule, I can probably take lessons maybe once a week, or even twice a week, through voice chat (Skype preferred). I look for a teacher who will give structured and orderly lessons, as I yearn for structure, which I don't feel I have when self-studying . A teacher should be polite and enthusiastic and appreciate the needs of the student. I took 7 years of Spanish in school, and recieved A's. My teachers all said I was a dedicated student and even seemed like a native speaker. Please contact me with your price quotes if you are interested in having me as a student. I'm trying to learn Finnish because I will be leaving for Finland to study abroad for a year. I am a beginner in the language and know next to nothing.I don't understand pronunciation that well and I am completely bewildered by verb conjugation.I 'll dedicate as much time to lessons as my teacher would like. I have been studying Finnish for 3 years once a week. I can now read books written for children. I would like to review the lessons I have studied before to make sure I have assimilated everything.
I am not interested in grammar per se.
I have difficulty understanding Finnish spoken to me so I would have to work on my listening skills.
I can devote 2 hours a week to my study.
It is essential that the teacher never speaks English to me. I teach French myself and know that immersion is the only way to learn. So the teacher has to be firm.
