I am a beginner. My dad's side of the family is Italian so i have grown up hearing the language and can understand some but am unable to speak. I have bought some CD's to help me learn but i feel that it is not enough. I have friends that i can practice on but i feel that they are unable to get me started.
I don't need to have one on one, so if there are other students starting at the same time as myself i don't mind being in a group. i'm looking at starting with about 2 hours a week with someone, with additional time on my own.
I'm looking at more the conversation aspect and feel that the written can wait.

Ni Hao! I spent One year living in Shanghai with my family, and thats where my interest peaked. I briefly attended Tongji University (in Shanghai)to learn Mandarin. Unfortunately when i decided to move back to Canada this past year i have forgotten a lot of what I had learned and I really want to learn it again. For both personal and educational(c areer) reasons. While in University I was learning all aspects; characters, pinyin, reading, writing and speaking,etc.
Im looking for someone of mother tongue, with experience in teaching as well as good qualification s. Im only interested in private lessons 3-4 times a week.

I am a total beginner and would like to learn german. I speak english as my native language. My friend has some basic german speech and her native language is french, she speaks english also. we are looking to find a german teacher in ottawa and are looking for a inperson session.
id say maybe 2 to 3 hours a week then we will practise together on our own.
we would prefer someone who can speak french and english and someone who enjoys teaching. someone who has a passion for teaching. and someone with a fluent german speech. we both just want conversation so we can talk together in another language.

I'm an international development studies student, majoring in politics and economics. I see mandarin as a very usefull skill in the global economic field that i hope to work in. secondly i spent a year in china and loved the culture and language. i ahve a basic understanding and basic conversation skills...i understand tones and have been told my pronunciation is quite good. I have little to no reading/writi ng skills, so this will need somework but i'm more interested in oral as i feel reading and writing would be easier to learn on ones own, while spoken i think requires a live teacher.
