I want to learn Somali because I am married to a Somali woman and my three kids are half-Somali. I want to start using Somali in the house more, and I do not want them to lose a sense of a mother tongue or tradition. I grew up without learning my own language or having appreciation for my culture, so I want to ensure that my kids at least have a pride in their mother tongue. It will also help in communication with in-laws.
M y proficiency is very basic. I can count to 10, and say a handful of basic words.

Hello, my name is Madison. My husbands family is Sinhalese and I wish to be able to speak with his family members without help. I also wish to travel with his family to Sri Lanka, but do not feel comfortable going without the language, as I will not be able to converse with the rest of his family. I know basic greetings, and basic questions, but that’s about it. I am willing to dedicate 1-2 hours per week to lessons. As for a teacher, I am open, as long as they have open availability, as my schedule is very busy.
