I undertook six months of weekly group lessons a few years ago, followed by ten weeks living in China: I am a beginner.
I will be travelling in China (Hong Kong, Yunan, Szechuan, Xian, ... back to Hong Kong) in January and February 2006.
I'd like to improve my oral Mandarin, and in particular my ear. Learning characters is a lower priority.
I will dedicate a significant amount of time to study in November and December: I would be happy to do up to three lessons per week, and to put in one to two hours of work on other days.

LEVEL: I'm a beginner, however I do know a few basic phrases.
W HY: I need to learn a bit more than the basics for an important business trip to Bahrain. I visited Bahrain in 1996 for business and have been asked to come back in March 2006. I'd like to impress my hosts with some casual conversation.
AREAS: Mostly conversation, I will not have a need to read Arabic.
TI ME: As much time as I can afford to clock between now and my departure.
QUALITIES: A friendly teacher that is willing to work with me to maximize my learning capability and customize it to my business opportunities and unique people and situations I will be involved in.
