I have some experience with brazilian portuguese. I play an online game quite regularly, and a lot of the players there are brazilian. I have friends from brazil teaching me the language, and so I know how to read basic conversations enough to understand what is being discussed. I know many words and can form simple sentences. I can read it better than I can write it, and have never attempted to speak it - mas eu estou aprendendo ;)
I am learning this language because to me it's beautiful - and challenging - and I seem to have a head for it. Also, I plan to go to Brazil in this new year sometime, and not having to write down what I want to say would be great!
I am not working right now, and would be available at any time, for any duration of lessons. I am very serious about one day becoming fluent, so I will dedicate as much time as necessary to my lessons.
A s for the qualities I am looking for in a teacher, the main one would have to be patience *lol* Someone that I could look to as a friend and a tutor.

I am a philosophy student studying at McGill University, interested in maintaining and developing my Mandarin Chinese. I spent the past summer studying at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. I am a comfortable beginner/earl y intermediate level student. I speak English as my first language, but I also speak French relatively fluently. I am interested in developing my Mandarin to the end of returning to China as soon as possible to travel and eventually pursue a carreer in international law with a specializatio n in Chinese negotiation. I would like to develop my Chinese in a well rounded way, written, spoken and read.

I am a complete beginner in the japanese language, knowing only the honorifics and random words I have picked up from listening to Japanese Pop and Cartoons, while reading subtitles and lyrics.
Th e reason why I want to learn Japanese is because I enjoy the culture and would like it as something I could put on my resume. Also I like the sound of the language, and find it to be very interesting.
I am willing, as things are now, to dedicate any day of the week, afternoon and evening only for weekends because I am still in High School, to learn japanese. However that may change if I get a part-time job working somewhere.
I would like particular emphasis on conversation and the japanese alphabets, Hiragana and Katakana.
Qualities I look for in a teacher are flexibility, group discussions, and creative ways of learning.
