Dear tutor:
I spoke fluent Cantonese as a child but have forgotten most of it. I would like to improve my proficieny. My level is beginner intermediate. I have a grasp of the five Cantonese tones for the most part. I am able to understand 50% of everyday speech. My main goal is to use Cantonese for specific situations at my workplace. More specifically, my goal is to improve my vocabulary and listening comprehension . Learning some of the written language would be of interest as well but it is not a priority. I am fluent in French as well and thus have the 'flexibility' needed in acquiring a new language. I only have one day per week to devote to lessons.
The teacher should be a native speaker who is able to focus on teaching the oral language as spoken everyday including slang. He (she) should be able to offer succint, focussed lessons. I would rather not have to use a text or grammer book.

I have taken Spanish lessons in the past because I LOVE the language and enjoy traveling to Spanish speaking countries. I have been to Ecuador, Costa Rica, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, and Cuba. I will be going to Peru in a few months and I really need some help on my conversationa l skills. I have done a lot of grammar, reading, etc but my speaking skills are lacking.
I am not sure what my proficiency level is. The last course I took was at the Calgary Spanish Academy and I think it was Basic Level 3.
I would like to dedicate at least 1 hour per week to Spanish and preferably more. Perhaps one hour conversation and one hour on other aspects.
The qualities I am looking for in a teacher would be patience, friendliness, and the ability to push me to actually speak instead of letting me avoid it :) This has been my issue in classroom settings that I have taken before - it is too easy for me to avoid Spanish speaking since I find that the most challenging!
