I would like to learn Arabic. My husband is Palestinian. I bealive the accent is far different from Egyptian and Maroccan. My goal is to be able to follow a converstion in a family gathering. and to be able to express myself with basic vocabulary. I am starting to understand more and more but I am definately a beginner. I have a Punjabi background, and both of my parents speak Punjabi--it is my mom's native language as she was born in India, whereas my dad learned slang-Punjabi as a child.
My dad's side of the family has been here for 3 generations, thus making me the 4th generation, and because of that I never had the oportunity to be emersed in the culture or learn the language.
I am definitely a beginner speaker, and I want to learn to speak conversation- Punjabi so that I can speak with my elders. If I marry a Punjabi man, I would also like to be able to speak to his parents/elder s, and have our children learn Punjabi.
I will dedicate a few classes a week to learning to speak Punjabi, and hope that my teacher can also incorporate general cultural into the lessons as well.
