I am half croatian and I play croatian Tambura music and I plan on spending time in Croatia in the next couple of years and I want to learn conversationa l skills to start with. I am very interested in learning conversationa l skills pertaining to culture and music. I am just beginning studying croatian though I have been around it all my life. I am a community college administrator in the U.S. and teach technical writing in English to U.S. and Croatian students via web-based and video conferenced distance learning systems. I travel at least twice yearly to Istria and the northern Dalmatian coast as well as Zagreb, and am an associate professor at Politehnika Pula. I would like to learn Croatian beyond 'phrase book' level for my educational, business, and personal communication s. I can devote 2-4 hours per week via distance learning and independent study. I would appreciate the opportunity to read, e-mail, and converse in Croatian with my instructor and with other students and Croatian speakers on progressively more advanced levels as my facility with the language grows.
