Although I was born in Mexico and Spanish is my native tongue, I have never had formal instruction in Spanish. I am able to speak and read Spanish quite well but my writing skills are not as developed. I would also love to improve my grammar skills and expand my vocabulary.

My name is David Bergstrom. My grandpa, Pedro Amuchastequi; came from Lekeitio, Spain in 1903 to Mountain Home, Idaho. He married Justa Gandiaga and they had my mother, Mary Ami; as my granpa's name was changed to Pete Ami when he entered the U.S.
I want to learn my grandpa's spoken language prior to going to his hometown Lekeitio for a visit next year. I learned spanish in high school and also Russian in college so, my ability to learn a language is certain.
I only heard my grandpa speak Basque when I was 4 to 6 years of age when he came to live with us in Dallas, Texas.
I have not given it a lot of thought as to how much time I would like to dedicate to learning Basque but, would entertain as much as possible per week.
