I am interested in learning French with a view to using it as my second teaching area in my upcoming Education degree. I have a Graduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics, and work as an ESL tutor, as well as a general English and History tutor for high school age students. I do not have a 2nd language as yet, but am highly motivated to learn one, believing that it will develop my understanding of the processes my students must go through, and improving my teaching. I will be devoting 3 hours to private tuition, and 10hours a week to study of the language. I am hoping to fast track (to the extent possible) my language learning. I would like to have a good grounding in the information taught in high school French as a Foreign Language classes within 6 months, and reach an intermeditae or pre-advanced level by the end of 12 months. (Please tell me if this is unrealistic).
