I am beginner with strong interest in Chinese language and culture. I also hope to use these skills eventually in my work. As beginner I am in a first place interested in grammar and conversation but in the future would be interested in learning also to read and write. Looking for someone to teach and practice speaking any or all of the following languages with my kids (2yrs old and 8yrs old). our focus is on learning to speaking and practicing (less in grammatical or textbook learning). you do not need to be certified teacher; if you can speak the languages with a native accent, that is perfect! child has attended french immersion school and is conversationa l. knows the mandarin alphabet, some songs and symbols but is not conversationa l. knows nothing in hebrew or swahili yet and would be complete beginner in these areas. if there is anyone in freeport or who can travel to freeport to provide tutoring, please contact me.

I am 66yrs old and have lived in Taiwan for two years, My wife is Taiwanese and I am missing out on so many things by not speeking Mandarin. I am now part of a large family and have made Taiwan friends here who comunicate in English , but I wish to learn Mandarin conversation. I have attended Taiwan Normal University for 3 months first in a class of 10 then changing to one to one. The reason being all my class mates were in there early twenties and were in Taiwan just to learn Mandarin and I thought that the age differance and me having another life after classes not just studying would slow the class the down . My teacher disagreed but I changed to one to one . I was told I was doing well and we changed from learning Chineses characters to Pin Yin as My wife said the conversation was more important than spending so much effort in learnig to read and write. So I am a beginner with a small knowledge of some words and phrases and counting. If you feel you can help me I am open to suggestions.
