I am a beginning Hindi student taking a small group class and I want to begin taking lessons with a new teacher in early June. I am learning Hindi because I am a sociologist and I want to be able to extend my scholarship to northern India. I am a hard worker regarding homework, memorization and grammar but a very shy and tentative speaker when I am learning new languages. I am looking for a teacher who can work with me once per week, preferably with other learners, who is very patient and understands the way that I learn.

Proficiency level in both Hindi and Telegu - Beginner.
Why I wish to learn these languages - My wife's family speaks both languages and I would like to be able to communicate more effectively with them. As a K-12 librarian and an academic-libr arian-in-train ing, there is also the possibility that fluency in Hindi and Telegu will contribute to my career advancement.
Areas in which I need improvement - All.
Time I wish to dedicate to lessons - 1 to 2 hours a week for the lessons themselves. I expect to study/practic e five to ten hours a week.
Qual ities I'm looking for in teacher - I'm looking for someone who not only knows the language(s) I wish to learn but also knows how to teach them. I'm also looking for someone who will not only teach me how to converse and read the Hindi and Telegu scripts, but who also isn't afraid to delve into grammar lessons. As a former EFL teacher overseas and an English teacher in the States, I have a fairly good grasp of English grammar and learn foreign languages best when grammar is integrated into my lessons.

Education Major at the University of Houston Downtown seeking a tutor in Hindi. I have little to no experience in Hindi but am very interested in learning becuase of my love for the country, I have been there twice and plan to return. I am looking for a face to face lesson for about an hour a week, with the assumtion that I will put in more effort on my own time. As a college student I do not have a large amount of money to spend, but I think I could pay $20 per hour session. I understand this is not a large sum, however it is what I can afford. I am looking for a patient teacher. I have learned Spanish on my own over the last 5 years from friends, but I have far less experience with Hindi. Thank you for your time.
