Goeiemore I am planning to travel to South Africa and I want to learn as much Afrikaans as possible before I go. I have been studying intensely over the past two months but my progress is slow. This is rather frustrating for me as I generally comprehend foreign languages fairly easily.
The amount of time I want to dedicate to Afrikaans language lessons would be as much as 20hours per week, but no less than 4hours per week. Such instruction should be led by someone who is either a native speaker or who has spent years in an Afrikaans-spe aking community. (I'm open to someone who speaks Afrikaans who is trying to learn English, as a sort of language exchange.) This is because my goal is to have conversationa l command of the language with a solid foundation in grammar. My preference is for a instructor in the Houston area but I am open to other means. I am willing to pay accordingly for all this, so if you speak Afrikaans please contact me! Thank you.

I am a beginner but I do have some background in Mandarin. I used to live in Hong Kong and I love the language. I want to get proficient at it for myself and for business. But the primary reason is for myself.
I want intensive. My son comes to live with me in late May so between now and then I would like to meet frequently.
I want conversationa l Chinese. I want a teacher who will talk with me so that I can learn to use the vocabulary I already have. Right now I speak broken chinglish (thats what I call it)

I married a Dutch man and we are about to have a baby. We would like our child to know both Dutch and English. However, I am not currently fluent in Dutch and my husband is out of town a lot, therefore it is hard to learn from him. I've tried books and online resources but I feel I need to learn from a live person. I would say I'm just past the beginning stage. I can usually understand the topic of a conversation in Dutch and its general direction. I'm at the point where I'm attempting to put sentances together myself, but do not know sentance structure well enough, and am very short of vocabulary.
