I feel that I speak as a four year old child would in a fifty year old dialect from an area near Krk in the north of Croatia.
I can not read nor write Croatian.
My father was baorn there and I would like to visit Croatia again and be able to read and write a little of the language.
I don't care too much about my accent but want to be understood.

Beginner. I would like to become proficient in Croatian due to the fact that I visit the country often and may possibly due business there in the future. I am willing to take lessons possibly once a week as well as 'homework' for extra practice. I would like a teacher who can teach in a Croatian dialect and has a lesson plan that can speed-up the learning curve. Lessons will have to be scheduled in the night time.

I have taken two intensive beginner's courses, and one intensive intermediate course, in Croatia (Zagreb, Zadar, and Dubrovnik). I understand approximately 50% of normal conversation, and have a good command of basic grammar (cases and verb tenses; prepositions and syntax are shakier). I am learning Croatian in order to conduct long-term ethnographic field research in Croatia and Bosnia approximately one year from now, and so it is most important to me that I greatly improve my conversation abilities -- speaking and listening comprehension -- as soon as possible. I would also like to be able to proficiently read newspapers and write *basic* texts (i.e., letters and e-mails).

I know a few basic words and phrases in Croatian. My dad is from Croatia and my grandparents are still there and do not speak a word of English! I want to be able to visit them and talk to them without my Dad translating everything. Being able to write them letters as well will be very useful.
I am looking for a teacher who is preferably native Croatian or has it as one of their native languages, reason being is that from what little I have learned that there are some discrepancies going by textbooks and I want to speak accurately.
