China has always been fascinating to me. In the past I only learned about it's history, but now my sister has learned Mandarin and I have decided to as well.
I will be traveling in China until Sept 30 2012 and want to find a private tutor who can teach me conversationa l Chinese, as well as how to read pin yin and some basic characters needed for traveling.
My only experience with Mandarin is my two months of self study with pimsleurs language tapes (30 min/day) and time with my sister.
I want to find an instructor who can teach 3-4 hours a day for 10 days (two weeks.) I want to be able to have lessons and then go and explore the areas around and in Chengdu. My ideal instructor would be skilled enough to teach me fundamental principles of the language while flexible enough to do so around subjects of interest (i.e. Lets learn Mandarin by talking about the Bamboo forest and Pandas, or by barganining in the market, or visiting a museum.)
I am very excited about learning Mandarin and promise to try very hard. Mandarin is very hard so I can't say if I'll be a very good student, so patience would be another good trait for you! Thank you!

I am a 12 years old boy living in Hong Kong. I have just finished a one-year intensive elementary course in a German international school.
