I am a motivated beginner in Mandarin. I recently visited Beijing and Taipei, and will return for short trips in 2010 and following, to continue my studies and possible academic associations. I am interested in working on speaking at first, and learning characters later. I am also interested in the landscape, history and culture, so I am motivated to learn quickly in preparation for my visits to China, but I also plan to continue improving for the longer term.
