I lived in Beijing, China for a year & just moved back to the US. I studied 2xwk for 2hrs while I was there & completed a beginning language class & book. I would like to continue learning the language so that I do not lose it. I am conversationa l in many contexts, but will need some review due to having been back in the states for 2months with no practice except myself. I would prefer to learn in person, as I learn better this way, but am willing to learn over the phone &/or online if that is all that is available. I am willing to deticate at least one night in person a week\ &/or two nights online/phone. I am looking for a teacher who keeps things fun & interesting & who is willing to incorporate daily living activites/sit uations into the language learning objectives.

Me and my spouse would like to learn Mandarin/cant onese for career advancement. I have no basic knowledge of this language, I have no idea of how many hours of my time I can dedicate because of my busy schedule, but maybe 2 times a week, 3 or 4 hours persession. I would like to get some feedback and recommendatio n from you on the number of hours needed for such courses. My aim is to be able to speak, read and write. And one of the quality I look for in a tutor is patience and humor.

I am taking a year out from working in marketing in order to attain a solid working knowledge of Chinese that I can use in my day-to-day work.
I am currently a full-time student of Chinese at one of Shanghai's main universities, but find the classroom environment and course content are preventing me from maximising my time.
I am now exploring one-to-one teaching options as an alternative. I am likely to require about 6 - 10 hours tuition per week for the next 10 months, depending on cost.
