My current level of Chinese is basic. However, I am returning to Detroit after spending 6 weeks in China (Beijing). I am currently a second year law student at Wayne State University. I intend to return to China at some point to work as a lawyer. I enjoy both the Chinese language and the culture. I do have one year of formal Chinese learning at my undergraduate university, but that was two years ago. I want to master all aspects of the Chinese language. I hope to spend a few hours per week with a tutor, but I am flexible and will likely have to cut down in the Fall when school starts. I am open to all sorts of learning styles from individual lessons to a group class.

I graduated high school from CKSC. As I graudated, I believe that my grades in chinese were above average. I thought that I was proficient enough until I tried to watch a chinese tv series with my grandmother. Sad to say, it was hard for me to understand the show because of poor interpretatio n of words. I am also unable to read and understand chinese newspapers. I believe that I need a lot of improvement in all aspects of mandarin and fukien (grammar, communication , writing and reading). It is undeniable that mandarin is fast becoming the most widely spoken language around the world and that I need to be fluent with it to become universally competitive. I also think that learning the language could further help me reach out to alot more people especially now that I am aiming to be a good doctor someday. As stated, I wish to have a teacher who has effective techniques to help me solve my language dilemma. I am looking for an approachable private tutor (preferrably female) who could help me 2 hours a week during friday nights or saturday mornings/afte rnoons. I hope that through this site, my dream of being a proficient mandarin speaker would soon be turned into reality. Thank you.
