Two beginners. Have an apartment in Rio and would like to learn Portuguese fluently. Planning on spending good portion of time in Brazil. We would ideally like private lessons in our home seperate from each other. We have a very unpredictable schedule and we need someone who is flexible. I would like to move to Brazil part time and teach English. I am a beginner although I speak very conversationa l Brazilian Portuguese with friends. I'm particularly uncomfortable with my pronounciatio n, grammer, and comprehension . I have 9 months to learn and I'm attempting to immerse myself with reading Brazilian newspapers, music, films, televison programs, radio, books, and flashcards. I have been learning Portuguese through extensive travel in Brazil. I am a fluent Spanish major at a university here in Portland, and am now fairly profficient in speaking and reading Portuguese. My main difficulties lie in basic grammatical errors due to learning only through listening and using a similar, but not entirely correct, Spanish format for what I have not picked up through conversation based learning. I would like to learn to speak more fluently because I speak other languages and have traveled throughout countries where foriegn languages are spoken, but I have never had such an amazing connection with a culture or language as I experienced during my time in Brazil. I would like to spend two to three days a week practicing grammar and speaking with a teacher who is open to speaking with me and helping me with my errors. I would hope that this individual would be as interested in teaching the language as I would be in learning it.
