I'm a near Complete beginner. My current partner is Thai and has taught me numbers up to the 1000's - although my tone will probably need a lot of work.
I would prefer lessons once or twice a week. I'm currently without a car, so times and locations that are public transport friendly would be a bonus. I work in the CBD and live near Balmain.
I had considdered taking a course through the local community college, but decided that it would be difficult to get to.
I've had difficulty learning other languages in the past, so I'm looking for a patient instructor who is able to adapt the pace to my needs.

I am a probationary psychologist and currently work as a counsellor. I would like to learn Irish Gaelic for personal reasons. I would like to learn Chinese because i have mostly asian friends and i would like to speak in their native language with them. I can speak Japanese and would like to study the chinese characters and learn what they mean in chinese and their difference to Japanese characters.
I also read alot of books about Chinese history, and i have studied alot about the Cultural Revolution.
I am planning to go to China in the future and i would like to start learning now so i can communicate with people when i get there.
