My husband and I have been trying to learn amharic for a couple years. It is our hope to get a better understanding of sentence structure as well as grammar. We can construct the very basic sentences, but can't seem to move beyond that. We have friends who speak the language, but realize that we should not make large demands of their time. We have appreciate the help we have, but just want to progress more.
Our reason for learning this language is to be able to talk to persons about the Bible.

I need to learn Amharic Language because I am a habitual visitor to Ethiopia.
I am a business admin. PhD Student in Sudan .I am utilizing the nice climate of Ethiopia to read & write my dissertation.
I feel very unhappy for not being able to talk to my Ethiopian girl friend & to the people in the city.
I have visited Ethiopia more than 10 times so far.

I have visited Ethiopia nine times, sometimes holiday, sometimes volunteer, but have only a few words of Amharic. I would like more conversationa l Amharic - I have not learnt sentences or verbs.
I would probably look one lesson per week when I come in January. I usually stay eight to ten weeks.
I am retired female and would like an appropriately experienced tutor.
I usually stay around Piassa and could meet within walking distance from there i.e. Piassa, central, University area, possibly Bole.
I am not looking for anything too formal - I do not intend to learn written Amharic. I need to practise pronounciatio n.
At this point, I want some idea of hourly rates for tutors.
