Hello, I'm Andrew and I'm trying to learn Japanese. I've used many language learning material, but I can't quite learn the language myself. I have studied the Japanese language for a while but I am still a beginner. I am still a beginner because I have only practiced the Katakana, Hiragana, and Kanji of Japanese, but i have not mastered it nor have practiced conversation. I also feel that I work better learning anything with someone or a guide by my side. I would be willing to work on saturdays and sundays in the afternoon. As for a teacher I just want to meet somebody who knows what they are doing and can make the lessons worthwhile and fun.

I am about to graduate with a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and I intend to pursue graduate studies in Russian history. My knowledge of Russian is very limited, however, and therefore, I need a private tutor mainly to improve my reading skills and grammar. I need to be able to translate Russian texts in order to get into my graduate program. I plan to study Russian intensively and I am ready to dedicate a lot of time for these lessons. I expect a teacher who is able to prepare me for translation (conversation al and writing skills are of secondary importance for me at the moment). I am also proficient in Bulgarian, which I expect my tutor to take into account given the similarities between the two languages.
