I am interested in a teacher that can work with my whole family - four of us ranging from ages 9 to 40. We need someone who is patient. None of us have studied Mandarin before but my husband has travelled to China and Asia and is probably more familiar with customs and sounds. I think most of us would like to learn conversationa l language with customs education and some writing.
D epending on cost, I would like to have 1- 2 hour lessons a week beginning in August, 2010. We are in the South Charlotte, NC area.

I began to practice meditation quite a few years ago. I became drawn to Tibetan Buddhism, and more specifically the teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The teachings have become a very important part of my life. I have a Tibetan friend who is not too fluent in English, of course his command of the English language is far superior to my understanding of the Tibetan language. Quite frankly I have no understanding of Tibetan whatsoever. Hence, my desire to attempt to learn Tibetan is very strong.
I would consider myself a beginner, with no understanding of the language at all.
I would like to study all areas of the language, grammar,vocab ulary, conversationa l skills, etc.
I would like to dedicate as much time as possible within my budget.
Th e qualities I value in a teacher are, patience, kindness, humor, all the qualities I admire in the Tibetan people I've already met. Of course an excellent command of both Tibetan and English would be necessary. S

I have a Lao girlfriend. I want to be able to participate in conversations with friends and family when they are all speaking Lao. I just finished 12 week couse in beginner lao. The school I went to is no longer teaching lao because their lao teacher is pursuing other interests. I have 3 friends from my lao class that are also interested in continuing to learn lao.
