My daughter is fifteen years old and has an absolute fascination with Japanese manga comics. She is interested in beginning to learn japanese over her summer break with a tutor who would consider incorporating manga into some of the lesson planning. The ideal tutor would be willing to discuss japanese youth culture and literature and would be relaxed and patient. My daughter is looking to explore her interests, but probably doesn't want an academically rigorous course just yet. We would be interested in instruction two hours per week from June through September, with an option to continue through the next school year.

I am of Italian heritage and desire to continuing studying Italian because I will live there part time within the next 7years.
By USA standards I am at the Intermediate level but after taking a week long course in Rome, May 2009, I am considered Pre-Intermedi ate by their educational standards.
I have studied on my own, with individual teachers and completed an Intermediate course at University, receiving a grade of A this past May, 2009. I began studying on my own after a first trip to Italy in 1988. Only since 2006 have I have focused on full time study, with an individual teacher and at the university. I am committed to learning as the language and travelling to Italy are my passions.
Th e Assistant chair of Modern Languages at Central Connecticut State University noted that I need assistance in the areas of conjugation and vocabulary. These are areas of which I must concentrate, in addition to reviewing the basics. In study and teaching, I prefer a more standard regimented approach with quizzes and tests, in addition to listen, speaking and comprehension outlets. I must also work past my fear of making mistakes in speaking Italian so that I can fully communicate with native Italian speakers.

Hello, I am a male-to-femal e transsexual and I will be having surgery in Thailand in December, 2010. I will be there for 6 weeks. Furthermore, I am curious about Thai culture in general, and imagine a continued interest in visiting. I have essentially no background in the language, though I have been trying to learn some on the computer and from a book. My goals are to be able to have enough communication skills to get around, and also to establish the sincerity of my interest and intentions. I would gladly attend 1 or 2 classes/lesso ns per week, for all the time I am in town between now (April) and December. I will, however, be out of town now and again during the summer, visiting my partner in Canada. I would be most comfortable with a female who was comfortable with me as an American transsexual - which is different from a Thai transsexual (for starters I am married to and in love with a woman, and we have a family of 4 children). I am retired and will be able to practice and study frequently. I live in downtown Seattle, right near the Pike's Market, and would prefer to be able to walk to my lessons.
