I am interested in private lessons in Mandarin Chinese commencing in January, 2009. I am a beginner whose Mandarin vocabulary is currently limited to approximately fifty words.
My ultimate objective is to be able to read Chinese books and newspapers directly without having to rely on translations.
I anticipate wanting weekly lessons of an hour each.

I'm a beginning student of Mandarin Chinese with basic skills in listening and speaking. I do speak Japanese fluently, so I am familiar with reading and writing Chinese characters. At this point I'm primarily interested in improving my speaking and listening skills for future opportunities in business or government. I really want to be able to communicate with native speakers. I'm willing to dedicate as much time as possible outside of my job. I'm looking for a native speaker who would be willing to take the time to help me.
