I am a beginner in portugues, and I would like to learn this languages for working. I need to learn the grammar, conversation, writing, etc.

I'm currently learning Ving Tsun Kung Fu. The Sifu is from Hong Kong and speak Cantonese. I'll like to learn Cantonese so that I can interact with Sifu and others when I am in Hong Kong. Plus I love to watch Chinese martial arts movies and would like to be able to understand what is spoken vs. reading the subtitles.

I have been fortunate to have friends from a variety of backgrounds. Sadly, I have never been able to communicate with them in their native languages. I would love to travel the world and communicate with friends and new persons I encounter. I am interested in learning Spanish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Japanese. While my intention isn't to learn them all immediately, those are the languages that interest me the most.
I am better than beginner with Spanish but not quite intermediate. I am 100% beginner with the other languages. I am respond well to visual learning, as I did well when I began to learn American Sign Language. I also do well with repetition. My goal is to be able to get by in basic conversation with a native speaker for now and should I respond well to the new language...ev entually learn more. As for the qualities of the educator, I need someone ultra patient and with a sense of humor, as I'm likely to not get it at first and need to laugh as I make mistakes.

I have chosen to learn Chinese as a second language for career advancement purposes. I am a retail merchandising and business minor and think that this language is best suitable for such studies. I will be learning as a beginner, therefore,I think I need to learn the basis f the grammar and pronunciation of the language. I am looking to meet during the summer for about 2-3 full weeks just to prepare me for my college classes.
