I would like to learn basic conversationa l Danish as my partner is Danish and I would like to communicate better with his family and friends when we visit Denmark. I am a total beginner and I'm prepared to dedicate approximately 2 hours per week to Danish classes. I'm looking for relatively structured lessons from a teacher that will cover grammer basics and vocabulary and who will also provide interesting teaching materials. I will be able to get some coversation practise with my partner, so this is not my priority in classes.

To whom it may concern,
I wish to learn Danish for travel purposes. In June of 2006 I will be traveling to Denmark for an International Rotary Convention and plan to stay on an extra week or two. While on that trip I will most likely be staying some of the time with a host family in Coppenhagen. Although most Danes I've met speak English, I do not want to take anything for granted when visiting their country. It's important to me to make the effort to learn as much of their language as I can before visiting. Partly to aid in my travel, but also to enrich my journey and show respect to my hosts and others I may encounter.
My level is beginner. Conversationa l/travel Danish is where my interest is. I also realize learning a new language involves dendrite activity in the brain that is desirable. So, I view this as mental exercise. I would be interested in learning other languages in the future, but currently my search is for someone who can teach me Danish. While I would prefer one on one face to face lessons. I would consider internet or some other format.

I've taken 10 lessons on Danish at Beginner's level but have not practiced what I've learnt although I have basic knowledge on Danish grammar and sentence construction. I'm married to a Dane and I need to be able to communicate effectively with his family members. It would also help in the event that we have kids someday cause I would want them to know their roots. Learning Danish well would also help me to integrate better into the Danish culture. I'm available everyday in morning and afternoon. Since I'm in Singapore, on-line or web-cam teaching is best.
