Hello
I've just returned from a trip in East Africa and I feel really motivated to learn Swahili. I could see that it would have been great to have been able to communicate with local people in their own language. I love Africa (that was my fourth trip there) and am sure I will go back. It would be great if, next time, I could speak some Swahili.

I spoke Swahili at a beginner's level many years ago. I wish to become fluent in the language. I learn languages easily, and speak and teach at the university level in four other languages fluently and wish to know Swahili fluently as well. I can dedicate four full months to the study of the language. My teacher should be a Swahili speaker, in Tanzania or Kenya, knowlegeable in the Swahili language grammar, talkative for conversation purposes if it is possible, and pleasant, like I am also. I would like to have regular interaction with other Swhili-speaki ng individuals to assure that I become relatively fluent.

I want to learn Swahili b/c I plan to do a lot of work in East Africa as a missionary. I only know a few words right now. As for as the amount of time I could dedicate, it would depend on both of our schedules at the time. It would also depend if it was in person (which I prefer) of via email,phone,v ideo etc.... I'm looking for a teacher who can speak with a native accent and can teach me how to effectivly speak to the natives.
